Our History
Pacific Trails Resort has been in the Malone family for 5 generations. The owner and founder, Franklin Thomas Malone acquired the land in 1885, five years after his marriage to the lovely Vera Lucille.
He was a skilled outdoors man. Some of our most popular trails were cut by him. Vera was exceptionally good at cooking and quilting. The couple combined their talents and opened up their land to those traveling the coast. Franklin built two additional small cabins, which you can still view on the property today. Inside you'll see some of Vera's original quilts and Franklin's hand carved furniture. Franklin and Vera had 12 children who helped run the property as it grew in popularity.
Eventually a General Store was opened on the property. Folks could buy Vera's fresh baked bread, a recipe still passed down the family today. Though the original store no longer stands, a new one has been built. You'll still be able to find fresh bread and other food items for your convenience.
The resort is now run by three of their great great grandsons; Jake, Jared, and Aaron and their families. Each year the family hosts a reunion for all of Franklin and Vera's posterity to come together and enjoy the wonderful Pacific Trails Resort.
